When the first skateboard was exactly built, nobody knows, but for sure it got popular in the 1960's by the Californian surfers. In 1974 a whole new wheel was invented called urethane. With this new very hard material, it made slalom freestyle and pool skating possible. In the middle of the 80's street, vertical slalom and freestyle where getting more and more unpopular. In 1989 slalom died. At this very same time, Indiana Skateboards started. It began with producing some few boards for friends. Indiana had already started from the very beginning to specialize themselves with slalom and long boards. Indiana's contribution to the history of skateboarding began.
